The initial IESP workshops of 2009 occurred in Sante Fe, New Mexico, Paris, France, and Tskuba, Japan, in April, June, and October, respectively. The fourth workshop will take place at the Oxford e-Research Centre, University of Oxford, UK on April 13-14, 2010 with people arriving in time for a reception on the 12th (Monday). The meeting on the 14th will run the full day. Attendees included members from industry, academia, and government, with expertise in a range of critical areas.

Goals for this forth meeting of the IESP series include the following:

  • Develop a governance structure and management model for IESP
  • Explore how laboratories, universities, and vendors can work together on coordinated HPC software
  • Refining of the roadmap for software and algorithms on extreme-scale systems
  • Setting a prioritized list of software components for Exascale computing as outlined in the Roadmap.
  • Assess the short-term, medium-term and long-term software and algorithm needs of applications for peta/exascale systems

Attendance at the workshop is by invitation only.

The work of the Oxford meeting will build on the current version of the IESP Roadmap and will seek to formulate and build toward consensus on a governance and management model for the IESP.
